Parent Management Training

6-12 Weeks

Parents of children ages 5-16 years

All parents have times when they feel stuck or unsure of how to respond to their children. Parent-Management Training (PMT) can help when parents to get through isolated problems (e.g., bedtime) as well as pervasive problems like aggression, oppositional-defiant disorder and disruptive-mood dysregulation disorder. In PMT, parents attend weekly sessions to learn how to set up a home environment that promotes healthy behaviors and decreases the likelihood of behavior problems.

I recommend that all parents interested in PMT look at Alan Kazdin’s books The Everyday Parenting Toolkit and The Kazdin Method for Parenting the Defiant Child.
