Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a highly-structured therapy used to treat a range of conditions, including anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder. CBT focuses on identifying the thoughts and beliefs that cause and maintain problem behaviors and emotions—and teaches skills for replacing those thoughts with more adaptive thinking.
CBT is a goal-oriented treatment that includes the assignment of practices and homework in between sessions. There is a focus on problem solving and targeting current problems in order to reduce distress and improve quality of life.
