I have spent over 10 years helping families and children understand and overcome learning, attention and behavioral difficulties. I specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of dyslexia, anxiety and mood disorders; and I have extensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for children and adolescents. Using comprehensive evaluations and evidenced-based therapies, I focus on uncovering every child’s abilities and interests.

Accurate information is vital for good decision making- and decisions about a child’s education and care should be based on the most reliable information.
I use scientifically-based evaluation methods to assess children from 3-21 years old. Regardless of whether it’s a screening or a comprehensive evaluation, the goal of the evaluation is to provide useful information that answers the referral questions and gives parents, educators, and children information about what to do next.
One of the best ways to connect with children is through their innate interest in animals and nature. In animal-assisted therapies, children gain awareness and control over the ways that they think, feel and act. I combine cognitive-behavioral methods with equine-activities for a range of therapeutic purposes, including increasing self-esteem, reducing anxiety, and developing frustration tolerance skills.
I have conducted research projects on the impact of therapy dogs on social skills, language use and stress in preschoolers; and children with Autism, anxiety and behavioral problems. I’ve also studied how therapeutic horseback riding can be used to treat traumatic stress. My research has been presented at international conferences and peer-reviewed journals.
